The Gift that Keeps Giving and Giving
You’ve heard of a smart phone, but have you heard about a smart photo frame?
From experience, I can tell you that a smart photo frame is indeed “smart” and makes a great gift, one that continues to give with each new photo that gets sent to the frame.
You see, my brother and his wife gifted my mother a smart photo frame for Mother’s Day. Upon seeing her excitement viewing continuous photos of her eight grandchildren, I was envious. So, I went out and bought two smart frames, one for me and one for my in-laws. The frame makes a most appreciated gift, one that can help loved ones stay in touch.
Skylight Smart Photo Frame 2
The Skylight Frame 2 is the latest version of the best-selling Skylight brand smart photo frame. It retains the amazing features of the previous model but offers some really great brand-new features that I am enjoying.
Regardless of the model, most people want to know whether or not the frame is easy to set up. My answer is YES. Setting up and using the frame is easy, even for not so tech-savvy recipients that receive a Skylight frame as a gift.
It’s a great way to display the many photos we have digitally stored but aside from the few that we post on social media, they rarely get looked at. It’s the answer to the printed photos in a photo album that most people no longer have in their possession.
Here’s How the Skylight Frame 2 Works
Simply plug in the frame and use the touchscreen to connect to your home or office’s Wi-Fi. You’ll be prompted to select a unique Skylight email address only to be used for your specific Skylight frame.
From your mobile phone, computer, or other smart device, email photos to the Skylight email address you assigned for your frame. Within seconds of sending the photos to the frame, they will instantly appear on the frame. You can also send photos to your frame by using the Skylight app.
Share that email address with friends and family so you can receive photos and videos from them as well. The best part is that everyone can email photos to the frame, and the photos appear on the frame within seconds.
And, while receiving photos on your smart frame is an outstanding feature, you can also share your frame’s photos with others.
If for any reason after you add photos to your frame, your location is lacking internet, it will still play the existing photos, even without a Wi-Fi connection. However, as soon as the WI-FI connection is restored, new photos that were added while it was offline will automatically download.
Updates Featured on the Skylight Smart Photo Frame 2
Customizable frame options allow you to change the color and style of your frame with just a snap on and snap off of magnetic borders that frame the smart device. Select from Classic, Cover, Shadow Box, and Wood, each style with two color options.
The Skylight Frame 2 features a 10″ color touchscreen, so you can easily pinch, crop, and zoom, right from the frame. The Full HD display offers brilliant vivid colors and crisp details of your photos plus smart auto-brightness and a crystal-clear anti-glare screen.
This updated Skylight smart frame version offers additional storage so you can store thousands more photos on your Frame 2 with a whopping 16 GB of storage. And the fast, quad-core processor speeds up every action featured on the frame.
In addition to sharing photos, you can now share videos straight from your mobile device! The frame will play your videos in Full HD and on demand so you can watch the videos over and over again. Best of all, you don’t need to purchase the Frame Plus extra (as needed with the previous model) to access or share your videos and captions because those features are free when you purchase a Frame 2. Also, can get Skylight Plus, the premium subscription service that provides access to exclusive features like the Photo/Video Screensaver, Sidekick, Chore Rewards, and features such as Cloud Storage and Doodles.

Controlling Who Can Send Photos to the Skylight Frame
Can anyone send photos to Skylight? Technically no. While it’s easy to have photos added to your frame from family and friends, only those who you provide the special Skylight link from the app or share your unique Skylight email address with, will have access to your Skylight frame. In other words, you invite family and friends to share photos on your frame and initially, you will be asked to approve receiving photos from new recipients.
Skylight Smart Photo Frame 2: A Smart Gift Recommendation
As my mother describes it, the Skylight Smart Photo Frame is magical. She leaves her independent living apartment to go and play Bingo and when she returns, new photos of her grandchildren “magically” appear. I never correct her as the frame is not magical, but it is definitely “smart.”
That’s what makes the Skylight Smart Photo Frame 2 perfect for gifting. Our family, spread around the country, living in Florida, Colorado, Tennessee, and New York continually send photos to my mother’s Skylight frame. She never misses out on seeing photos and videos from birthdays, holidays, vacations, graduations, sporting events, and dance recitals. She especially loves inviting friends into her apartment to view her family’s photos on the frame.
If you’re wondering you can even gift someone the frame with family photos already downloaded to the frame, you can. There is a convenient “gift mode” that helps keep the gift as a surprise until the frame is unboxed. In the gift mode, you can preload photos and videos without ever opening the box, because you simply send the photos directly to the Skylight email account. The recipient plugs the Skylight frame into an outlet and the photos automatically start playing.
And while I will not say that a smart frame is inexpensive, I still highly recommend one for every household. If the photos and videos sent to the Skylight 10” Frame 2 put a smile on the recipient’s face, the price of $199.99 is totally worth it.
