Practice Makes Perfect: Building Pickleball Playing Confidence

I received a pickleball racket as a Christmas present. But there was one problem. As a beginner pickleball player, I was too anxious and embarrassed to show up at a public pickleball court to play with strangers. So, my new pickleball racket was placed inside my bedroom closet and there it remained for three full months.

That was until I discovered the MerryMove Pickleball Net with Practice Rebounder.

What is Pickleball?

Pickleball is a game that resembles tennis but with a much smaller court and different strategy. Players use paddles to hit a yellow “wiffle ball” style plastic ball back and forth over a net. Pickleball can be played as a singles game, one opponent vs. one opponent, or a doubles game, two players on each team/side.

While pickleball is a simple game, simpler than tennis, the game can be fast paced. Pickleball can be played as a friendly match or played in a competitive nature.

A pickleball court measures 20 feet wide × 44 feet in length. The net height is 36 inches at the side and 34 inches in the middle. The court is striped similar to a tennis court.

More Than Just a Pickleball Net

I did not want to purchase a pickleball net so I could practice or compete against a pickleball playing partner. Instead, I was searching online for a piece of sports equipment that I could use to practice pickleball hitting on my own.

You see, at first I thought that I could hit the ball against a wall in the interior of my home. However, the sound of the ball pounding against my painted, textured living room wall was not one of my smartest moves. So, I was thrilled to see that there was a pickleball net that had a rebounder feature!

I purchased the MerryMove Pickleball Net with Practice Rebounder on Amazon.com for $49.49. It was immediately cost justified as it saved me the expense of repainting the living room walls due to pickleball dents or chipped paint on the walls.

Now, I simply hit a pickleball into the MerryMove Pickleball Net and the net rebounds the pickleball back to me. In other words, I can hit and hit and hit, without leaving the house or finding a partner to play with.

Versatile Features of the MerryMove Pickleball Net with Practice Rebounder

This 2-in-1 mini pickleball net with rebounder feature is a great way to practice!

Features include:

:: Transform any space into your personal pickleball court

:: Fully portable, stores in a durable carry bag when not in use

:: Compact 6ft width and adjustable, customized net heights

:: Net extends to 70 inches high for solo pickleball training sessions

:: Set the net at 34 inches to play with a partner and for dink training

:: Great for any level pickleball player from beginner to advanced

:: Ideal for small spaces and various training environments

:: Poles made of sturdy steel

:: Net colors: Black and yellow mesh

This compact sporting equipment is designed to accommodate pickleball “dink” practice shots when the net is adjusted to the 34″ height, replicating real-game conditions. A dink in pickleball is a soft, strategic shot that lands just over the net. You want to make it difficult for your opponent to hit a good shot in return. This net provides the perfect way to practice to perfect dinks, return shots, and quick reactions.

Pros and Cons of the MerryMove Pickleball Net

The main “pro” of the MerryMove Pickleball Net is that I can quickly set it up and easily take it down. The first time I assembled it, it took about ten minutes to figure it out. After using it so often, I’m a pro at assembly and disassembly. It takes mere minutes. Even better, when I’m not using it, I can store it in the convenient carry bag and place it inside my bedroom closet.

The carry bag is lightweight and portable so I can take the pickleball net outside to play in my driveway, garage, or place it in my car if I want to bring it to the courts. Having a large, wide open style living room area with tile floors makes it ideal to practice inside the house. Just be sure to first put away any breakables.

The  MerryMove Pickleball Net with Practice Rebounder has turned out to be perfect for my pickleball solo sessions and definitely built my pickleball game confidence. It’s been a real treat to practice my pickleball game inside my cool, air-conditioned house when the temperatures outside are uncomfortably and unhealthily hot and humid, or when it’s raining. Once the MerryMove Pickleball Net is set up, the net is very stable and holds up very well. Hitting into the net is nice and quiet, so you avoid disturbing other members of the house.

One “con” that I found with the MerryMove Pickleball Net is that it took me a bit of time to adjust to hitting the pickleball into the net’s narrow six-foot width. I kept hitting the ball and completely missing the net, so I was continually chasing the ball. I also had to adjust the net to be the tightest tension so the ball would efficiently rebound back to me, not just fall to the ground. Not a dealbreaker because once I got the hang of using it, it was a blast.

There’s one more “con” that could also be a benefit. This net is so awesome that every guest that knows that I own it wants to play living room pickleball when they visit.

Be Warned: The Game of Pickleball is Addicting

While I started out as a nervous new pickleball player, once I got started, I became obsessed with my improvement. In other words, once you start playing and practicing pickleball, you can’t stop.

The MerryMove Pickleball Net with Practice Rebounder makes a great gift for any pickleball enthusiast or beginner pickleball player. You can conveniently set this net up in moments to practice indoors or outdoors, take it to parks, pickleball courts, or play in your own backyard.

While there are many other larger, full-size pickleball nets offered for purchase, those nets did not offer the rebound feature. Now, having a way to play pickleball solo at home, has catapulted this training net to the top of my best recent purchase list. I’m so glad I bought it!

Practicing my pickleball at home to improve my technique is great but it’s turned into a fun way to get some daily exercise, my favorite new fitness routine. I use the MerryMove Pickleball Net with Practice Rebounder so often that I barely ever put it away in the carrying case. It’s now considered a piece of furniture in the living room.
