Ring Battery Doorbell

Ring Battery Doorbell

No More Peaking Through The Curtains To See Who Is At Your Door

This doorbell answers the door for you. Imagine that with a tap on your mobile device, whether you are at home or at not, you can see who is ringing your doorbell.

The Ring Battery Doorbell offers a full body video at your front door, so you don’t have to open the door to strangers, solicitors, or other unexpected guests. It’s a live view of the door area and you can talk with the person through the Ring Battery Doorbell.

Ring Battery Doorbells Take a “Ding Dong” Doorbell to a Whole New Level

The Ring Battery Doorbell is just one of the many “smart” items on the market that should be in every home. This multi-feature device not only alerts you that someone is ringing the doorbell, but it also offers head-to-toe HD video, live view, two-way talk, and motion detection.

When you download the Ring app, you can see what’s happening around your front door simply by controlling the view on your mobile device, iPad, or computer.  You will receive real time alerts through phone notifications when the Ring Battery Doorbell detects motion.

You can also combine the Ring Battery Doorbell with your Alexa device for hands-free home monitoring. If someone arrives at your door, the motion will tell your Alexa-enabled devices to make an announcement.

Motion Detection and Real-Time Notifications

A great feature of the Ring Battery Doorbell is that notifications are in real time, so you’ll know the exact second that motion is detected or someone rings the doorbell. The notification will be sent to the device you select when you set up the Ring app.

The motion zones are customizable through the app, so it allows the smart device to monitor the areas that you’re interested in and not unnecessary surrounding areas. The adjustments you can make to the settings from the app or logged in to your account on a computer take some time to get it just the way you want the notifications to be.

Live View with Two-Way Talk

Another great feature is the live view and two-way talk. That means you can see the live feed and talk to the person at your door through the app on your mobile device, whether you’re home or not. Having the opportunity to talk to someone live, in real time, makes it ideal to send a solicitor away or provide instructions to a delivery driver as to where to leave a package.

What I like about the live view button with audio, is that if I’m expecting someone at my house and I’m running late, I can see the person arrive and unlock the front door with my compatible smart lock.

With Quick Replies feature, you can request that visitors leave a message with a pre-selected reply. It’s sort of like an answering machine connected to your doorbell. A Ring subscription is required for this feature.

Head-to-Toe Video and Color Night Vision

Whether you’re looking at the HD video that feeds from the Ring Battery Doorbell day or night, the picture is very clear, and the color night vision is an impressive feature. The doorbell’s video provides a full, head-to-toe image of your front door area.

If you sign up for a Ring subscription that includes Video Event History,  you can save, share, and replay recorded videos for up to 180 days. That includes the doorbell ringing, motion, or any other live event.

Ring Battery Doorbell is a Source of Comfort When Expecting Deliveries

No more guessing if a package was delivered to your home. You can look at the video of your front door area from your mobile device and even zoom in for a closer look. When I’m expecting guests or waiting to be picked up, I can monitor my front door area from my phone instead of waiting and standing by the door.

The Ring Battery Doorbell can even provide you with Smart Alerts allowing the camera to recognize the difference between people and packages at your front door. A Ring subscription is required for the Smart Alert service.

Cost and Optional Ring Subscriptions

The regular retail cost of the Ring Battery Doorbell is $99.99. I ordered mine during an Amazon Prime Day and took advantage of the savings. I personally think the price was reasonable considering that it’s like a mini security system at my front door.

As for the Ring subscription plans, they are optional not mandatory. You can use the doorbell without signing up for any subscription. However, I think the extras are worth the added fee for a subscription.

A Ring subscription allows me to save and review my doorbell videos, especially motion alerts that I may have missed. There are three subscription packages: Basic, Standard, and Premium. You can pay in easy monthly installments or pay in full.

The Ring Basic Subscription is $4.99 per month and provides the following:

Ring Doorbell Installation, App, and Battery

Setting up the Ring Battery Doorbell literally took minutes. We wired it to the existing mechanical doorbell wiring for continuous charging, so we never have to worry about charging the battery.

Here’s what you get in the box:

:: Battery Doorbell
:: USB-C Charging Cable
:: Mounting Bracket
:: Installation Tools and Hardware
:: Setup Guide
:: Security Sticker

First, you attach the mounting bracket (with the provided screws) to the surface and then, simply click your doorbell into place. The device requires a completely flat surface to attach it effectively. You also need to be sure there are no obstructions in the field of view, so you get the full video view of the entrance area.

If you live in an apartment, can’t drill into a specific wall, or you’re not hot wiring into an existing mechanical doorbell, there are other alternate ways to hang the doorbell.

The programming of the Ring app took a bit of time to customize but once we got it, we were so pleased with the user-friendly features.

As for charging the built-in rechargeable battery, the Ring Battery Doorbell comes with a special removal tool that easily removes the battery from the unit. You can charge it in any USB-C charging port using the included charging cable.

Ring Battery Doorbell: A “Smart” Addition to Any Home

When we installed our Ring Battery Doorbell, I don’t think we really understood what a great level of security we added to our home. The doorbell offers continuing surveillance of people and packages arriving at our front door. I would think “porch pirates” looking to steal packages would be deterred from homes with a Ring Battery Doorbell. I appreciate receiving alerts on my cell phone regarding motion detecting, whether I am home or not.

The Ring Battery Doorbell not only offers multiple features, but the device also features a sleek, modern design that adds some class to our front door. Setup was easy. The wide view, horizontal and vertical, video is super clear whether it’s day or night. The talk feature with good audio quality has already come in handy to speak with unexpected guests. I also like to review footage if I miss something.

Doorbells have come a long way throughout the years, and the Ring Battery Doorbell is one of those Smart devices that you’ll wonder how you ever did without it.
