Rexing B1 Night Vision Binoculars

Rexing B1 Night Vision Binoculars

Did I Buy These Binoculars For My Son Or Myself?

I bought the Rexing B1 Night Vision Binoculars as a gift for my son.

He and his wife were planning a trip to Alaska so the binoculars would help them spot wildlife, view snow-topped mountains and tree lined landscapes, and get an up close look at whales swimming in the distance.

Although it says, “night vision” in the product name and it’s technically designed for “night observation far away from danger,” these binoculars were purchased for daytime use.

So, when my son suggested I try his awesome binoculars, I was shocked at how much I could see looking up at the tall oak trees beyond our backyard fence. Once I started using the binoculars, I couldn’t stop using them for bird and squirrel watching, viewing star constellations and the full moon, and occasionally seeing a space launch go up in the distance from Port Canaveral, Florida.

The up-close details on everything I look at are beyond anything I’ve ever seen.

When I was shopping online for the binoculars I would gift to my son, I was hoping to find a simple model that would provide a clear, great long distance view. I was shocked at how expensive most models were. Then, when I spotted the Rexing B1 Night Vision Binoculars, it came with an offer I couldn’t refuse. The original price was $199.99, and I paid only $79.99.

Unboxing the Rexing B1 Night Vision Binoculars

Here’s what you’ll find in the box:

:: Rexing B1 Night Vision Binoculars
:: Neck strap
:: USB 2.0 cable
:: Storage pouch
:: User manual

More Than Just Binoculars

While I initially was looking to purchase powerful binoculars, I was impressed to see that the Rexing B1 model offered a dual media capture feature. That means it not only brings far away objects closer, but it also can capture photos and videos of what you’re viewing.

The built-in photo and video modes offer high-resolution capture:

:: Photo – 1MP 1280×960 pixels
:: Video – 960p at 30 frames per second

While many people would use these binoculars for routine viewing and hunting, the photo and video option can also be used for reconnaissance, security and surveillance, night navigation, and search and rescue. You need to insert your own Micro SD card (up to 32GB) into the binoculars, allowing you to take hundreds of photos and several hours of video.

Incredible 10x Optical Zoom and Super Clear View

One thing is “clear,” Rexing B1 Night Vision Binoculars provide a detailed visual in any weather condition, day or night. The 10x optical zoom and digital zoom offer up to 4x magnification making these binoculars so much fun to use. Besides looking at the local birds and squirrels, we’ve taken the binoculars to the beach and spotted dolphins from an incredible distance away. It would make a great companion when camping, fishing, hunting, professional sports games, concerts, and many more uses.

When using the binoculars in the dark, you can see things up to 984 feet (300M) away. The binoculars feature powerful infrared (IR) lighting that when combined with the 10x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom are supported by the f/1.2 25mm objective lens. An aperture of f/1.2 provides a balance between focal clarity and light sensitivity.

The Rexing B1 Night Vision Binoculars also feature 7 unique 3W infrared modes that allow you to fine-tune the visibility of your subjects based on different lighting. The CMOS image sensor depicts a clear picture up to 300m (984ft), even in the darkest conditions.

One note: If you’re a “zoom-er” like me and obsessively zoom in on objects too close, the image will look pixelated. Zoom out a bit, take a wider view photo, and then you can manually zoom in if you want to see closer details.

Built-In LCD Display

Unlike traditional binoculars, the Rexing B1 Night Vision Binoculars feature a built-in, large LCD screen measuring 2.31″ that converts to a 7″ large viewing screen, so you get a complete picture of what you’re viewing. The built-in Playback Mode even lets you review your image captures while using the device. You can playback your footage from anywhere. Simply, transfer over your media files by attaching the provided USB 2.0 connector from the binoculars to your computer, or by using a Micro SD memory card reader.

Sturdy, Portable, Water-Resistant Binoculars are Easy to Operate

The Rexing B1 Night Vision Binoculars with IP56 water resistance gives this model the ability to function in any weather condition. You can track your subjects from any area or vantage point. It’s a breeze to switch between the photo and video modes by simply clicking on the MODE button.

One note: The Rexing B1 Night Vision Binoculars require 6 AA batteries. The battery life lasts up to 6 hours of continuous video recording time, as well as 17 hours of constant operation without infrared lights in the daytime, allows for long-lasting use in any weather condition. Obviously, the lights can drain the battery faster.

The night vision binoculars have a threaded tripod mount so the bottom screw hole can be connected directly to a tripod.

Warranty and Customer Service

I read on the brand’s website that if you’re not satisfied with the Rexing B1 Night Vision Binoculars, users are backed by an 18-month warranty or full refund within 30 days. I’m not sure how the refund would work if you purchased from Amazon, so you’d want to contact the company in that case. The Rexing brand is an American startup from Connecticut with headquarters in New York. According to the company website, they design, test, and manufacture their devices to guarantee the reliability and longevity of all products.

My Up Close Personal View of the Rexing Digital Binocular Model B1

With so many different features like taking photos and videos, the Rexing B1 Night Vision Binoculars can enhance outdoor viewing whether you’re hunting, birdwatching, or providing security and surveillance.

While I immensely enjoy using the Rexing binoculars, if you’re contemplating buying binoculars for daytime use or not planning to take photos or videos, you technically don’t need to purchase fancy “night vision” binoculars. However, I like the ability to use them at night. I feel a bit braver taking the dogs in the backyard early in the morning, occasionally before the sun rises. The built-in nighttime illuminator is powerful, allowing me to see far into the creepy dark tree area.

If you’re not a steady photo taker like me, oftentimes producing a blurry image with any camera, consider using a tripod. The steadier the binoculars are held, the clearer the image looks in the display.

As for whether my son recommends the Rexing B1 Night Vision Binoculars, I don’t know. When he and his wife called me during their Alaska vacation, I asked if he used the binoculars to see closer details on the mountains. He said, “No, but that’s a good idea.” Truth is, they had not even considered using the binoculars since their cell phones zoomed in enough to take photos and videos. So, that is how I regifted the binoculars to myself and I will continue to enjoy using them.
