Perfect For Active Feet!
If you love to walk your dog, go on long hikes, or have big plans to climb Machu Pichu, you’re going to need a great pair of hiking shoes.
For my walking life I need something that’s waterproof, warm in the winter but not stifling hot in the summer, comfortable on my arches, and supportive on my heels, and stylishly attractive. They don’t have to be blingy or flashy, but they’d better make my feet feel awesome despite the rigors of my hiking life.
I’ve owned a lot of hiking shoes in my day, and I have to say, the best ones I’ve owned so far are the Merrell Women’s Moab 3 Hiking Shoes.
Sure, I’ve had the earlier versions of this shoe (the Moab 1 and 2), but my foot often felt overheated in those. However, I don’t have that problem with the Moab 3 – because they always feel awesome! Warm on cold days, cool on hot days, not too heavy or too light. In my experience, they always feel perfect – and come along with the added bonus of stunning good looks, too.
What Makes The Moab 3 So Right For So Many?
First thing I considered was the perfect fit. After doing my research, I realized that I needed to order the shoes ½ size bigger than my usual size. So that’s what I did, and I’m so glad! Nothing rubs and the shoes are so comfortable.
I also have had foot pain when hiking in other shoes that were not as nearly well made. Not a problem for me with the Moab 3. They fit perfectly. I never come back from a long hike or walk thinking “I gotta get these off my feet!”
These hiking boots are supportive and comfortable, and I have no pain after racking up all those miles on everything from rocky cliffs to hilly bluffs. Which is a big deal for me, because in the past, I was afraid I’d have to give up hiking or walking altogether.
What Makes These Hiking Shoes Better Than Others?
There’s a big difference between these hiking shoes and other brands. Remember the old saying, you get what you pay for? Well, even if you pay for an expensive pair of sneakers or another pair of expensive hiking boots, you still won’t get all the perks of the Merrell Moab 3.
It all starts with superior materials.
>> These shoes are built to last and offer fantastic comfort because the fabric used to make them is 100% pigskin leather.
>> The laces are made of 100% recycled materials, and the webbing Bellows tongue keeps out dirt and debris.
>> There’s a protective toe cap and 100% recycled mesh lining
>> A removable contoured insole with reinforced heel cushioning is the key that provides long-lasting support.
>> Merrell’s air cushion in the heel works like a shock absorber and adds stability.
>> An EVA foam midsole (helps absorb shock) provides even more stability and comfort
>> A tough, long-lasting rubber outsole made of Vibram TC5+ rubber offers reliable traction
>> The block heel adds more comfort and strength to an already great hiking shoe.
The Moab 3 is built for the good times and the bad times. Sunny, perfect day? Freezing rain? Mud flats? Water-soaked hills? Yes, yes, yes, and YAAAS. Not only can ordinary, cheap, inferior shoes hurt feet or leak like a sieve on a rainy or snowy day, but they can also contribute to slipping and sliding with every step.
Not so with Merrell’s Moab 3. My feet stay comfy and dry and the incredible grips on the sole keep me from tumbling headfirst down that big hills I now conquer.
Take it from me: I used to buy lesser brands that gave me no warmth, no waterproofing, and no support. My feet hurt when I wore them, I was cold, and often wet or hot and left me with lots of regrets.
Poor craftsmanship can leave you with a pair of shoes that don’t keep their looks (like a terrible actor who has aged past his or her prime), fall apart, and disappoint you every time. I’ve spent many winters with cheaper shoes that looked great in the Fall and that ultimately fell to pieces by mid-Winter … leaving me with nothing but dashed dreams and sore, wet feet.
I first took these hiking shoes out of the box about 9 months ago. Now, all these mountain hikes, field runs, dog walks, and beach strolls later, I can honestly say that I have no regrets.
The Merrell Moab 3 Hiking Shoes are a keeper. Still great looking, still feel brand new (especially after I clean the mud off and shake out the sand), and worth their weight in gold.
My feet feel better, I’ve lost weight, and I can’t wait to go out with my dog to scale those high hills in the woods.
I’m a Merrell true believer. And I’m betting if you get these Moab 3’s, you will be too.
My Final Rating: 5/5 Stars
The love affair between my Moab 3’s and me has been in full swing since last Fall, and it’s still going strong. They’re sturdy, easy to clean, and protect my feet from the elements. I’ve worn them through windstorms, snowstorms, icy winds, torrential rains, and bright sunny days.
They’re waterproof, so while they may get a little damp on the outside, feet always stay comfortable and dry. Even when they get muddy, the exterior cleans up fast with a bit of water, a damp rag, and a drop of soap. Just like that, they are ready for action … and looking good.
I give the Merrell Moab 3 my highest recommendation. Absolutely my favorite and most beloved hiking shoe!
